Case Study: Rebuilding the STMA Wrestling Booster Club Website

Eclipse Digital

July 20, 2026

Case Studies,Web Design

Early this year, the STMA Wrestling Booster Club came to Eclipse Digital with a problem a lot of youth sports and booster organizations run into eventually. Their website was built on Google Sites. It got the job done when the program was smaller, but it couldn’t keep up with where the club is now.

STMA stands for St. Michael-Albertville, home to the Knights, one of Minnesota’s most established wrestling programs. The club runs youth, middle school, high school, and freestyle/greco programming, and it leans on parent volunteers and community donations to keep all of it funded. A website that just displays information isn’t enough for an organization moving that much activity through it every season.

What STMA Actually Needed

We’re not going to talk pricing here. What matters for this case study is the scope of the problem. STMA needed three things:

A visual refresh. The old site looked like what it was, a free template stretched to cover a growing program. It needed to look like the Knights.

Organized content. History, programming details, resources for new and returning families, contact information. It was all there, but scattered in a way that made parents work too hard to find what they needed.

Online registration and payment. This was the real gap. Google Sites has no native way to collect a form submission and a payment in the same step. Parents were stuck piecing together registration through outside links and manual processes. Same for donations. If the club wanted to make it easy for people to give or sign up, the site itself had to be able to do it.

What We Built

We moved STMA off Google Sites and onto WordPress. That decision alone opens up what the club can do going forward. WordPress gives their volunteers the ability to update content themselves instead of routing every small change through a developer, and it gives us the plugin ecosystem to actually solve the registration and payment problem.

For forms, we built the site on Fluent Forms. It handles both program registration and donations, and it connects directly to the payment gateway STMA already uses, so the club didn’t have to change how they collect money, just how easy it is for parents to do it.

Design-wise, we carried the Knights branding through the whole site. Colors, tone, imagery. The goal was for a parent landing on the homepage to immediately recognize it as STMA, not a generic sports template with a logo dropped on top.

The project ran from March to May, about two and a half months from kickoff to launch.

The Result

STMA Wrestling website Before and After

The biggest shift is on the operations side, not just the visual side. Registration and donations are now a smoother process for STMA’s families, start to finish, inside one site instead of a patchwork of links and workarounds.

It’s also easier on STMA’s volunteers. Fluent Forms gives them built-in reporting, so instead of digging through email threads or spreadsheets to figure out who registered, who paid, and who still owes something, they can pull that information directly and track it themselves.

Register for STMA Youth Wrestling

If you’re a St. Michael-Albertville family looking to get a wrestler into the program, registration and donation information now lives in one place: stmawrestling.org. The Knights have one of the strongest wrestling traditions in Minnesota, dating back to 1969, and the club depends on parent involvement and community support to keep it running.

If you run a booster club, nonprofit, or growing organization stuck on a platform that can’t handle registration or payments the way you need it to, this is the kind of problem Eclipse Digital solves. Get in touch and we’ll talk through what a rebuild could look like for your organization.
